OUR PURPOSE

In 2016, during our interim time between pastors, we met for a series of conversations about our sense of God’s leading.

We drafted the following purpose statement in this process, noting our deep roots in history as well as our openness to new ways that God will lead us in the future. Today,

WE ARE A 284-YEAR-OLD ANABAPTIST CONGREGATION, SMALL AND DIVERSE, SEEKING TO FOLLOW JESUS AND TO PROMOTE GOD’S KINGDOM WITH ENERGY AND GRACE.

WE EXIST TO BE A SAFE AND ACCEPTING COMMUNITY, SHAPED BY GOD’S WORD, SHARING GOD’S LOVE AND INVITING OTHERS TO JOIN US IN FOLLOWING JESUS.

We continue to draw each other to this purpose statement as an anchor and a challenge. While small, our congregation is blessed by diversity in many ways. Congregants travel from different counties and even different countries to worship together each Sunday. From our worship and teaching experiences at Methacton Church, we go out to a wide variety of home, school and job experiences,  seeking to carry out our stated mission to follow Jesus and promote God’s Kingdom with energy and grace.

Celebrating Paul Felton on his 100th birthday (January 22, 2020), who gave us a 6 YO sapling  in 2018, that he grew from an acorn from our 381 YO Methacton Oak that fell in July of 2017! What a man!
